Athletics

track for web site
CCDS encourages its middle school students to participate in a variety of athletic activities. In keeping with our mission—to empower children to discover their own creative powers and surpass ready achievement—students are grouped by age rather than ability. Our goal is to create competent team players, while offering opportunities of more skilled athletics to improve our athletes’ abilities.

CCDS teams compete primarily with other independent schools of similar philosophies. As a result, this commitment sometimes requires extensive travel by our teams.

Students are encouraged to participate in three seasonal sports activities, each fielding a varsity team. These are described below. Intramural options for younger students include volleyball, Cougars at Play, basketball, and soccer.

Fall : Co-ed Soccer

CCDS students are encouraged to participate on the co-ed soccer team, in order to develop new skills and discover the joy of playing and competition while learning to function as a team. The CCDS season runs a 12-14 game schedule from August until October with our season-ending tournament played with other independent schools.
Please check the website and calendar for the schedule, and make sure that we have a current e-mail address on file if your child is on the team.

Winter: Girls and Boys Basketball

CCDS students have the opportunity to balance their academic pursuits with athletics. CCDS fields both boys and girls basketball teams during the winter months from December until February, with practices beginning in November. Students learn sportsmanship, discipline and perseverance while developing their skills on the court.  Please check the website and calendar for the schedule, and make sure that we have a current e-mail address on file if your child is on the team.

Spring: Co-ed Track and Field

CCDS offers co-ed track and field during the spring months from March until May. Students run 4-5 track meets during the season including a large invitational track meet to end the season. Students are encouraged to explore many different events while learning about team participation, promoting school spirit, and building character with skill development.  Please check the website and calendar for the schedule, and make sure that we have a current e-mail address on file if your child is on the team.
