Middle School (5 – 8)

Middle schoolers at CCDS enter a community designed to meet their needs and help them succeed. Our faculty promotes an educational environment in which each student is encourage to develop his or her identity while pursuing formal scholarship and responsibility.

We offer a strong core academic program:

  • secondary school level algebra and geometry
  • U.S. history/government and world history
  • the writing process, reading comprehension of fiction & non-fiction, grammar & vocabulary development
  • science inquiry and the scientific method, including physical, life & earth sciences
  • secondary school level Spanish
  • integrated technology
  • public speaking
  • performing & visual arts

Meaningful, integrated learning opportunities enhance the educational experiences and personal growth:

  • curriculum-based overnight field trips to places such as Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City
  • local, state & national academic competitions including Power of the Pen, History Day, Science Fair & National Spanish Exam
  • competitive athletic opportunities
  • advisory, service learning & character education

Above, students regularly participate in a community service activity at Habitat for Humanity.
