Going Home Messages For Students

Reminder About Going Home Messages:
Parents should ensure that their children are aware of what they are to do after school so that it is not necessary for parents to call the school to leave messages for their children. When there is an unavoidable change in after-school plans, the school will deliver a message to the child before the end of the day.  Please call the school no later than 2:00 p.m. with messages.  If your child goes to car line and you are not present for pickup due to a delay, your child will automatically go to E.T.C. until you arrive and sign them out.

Pinwheels for Peace Celebration at Canton Country Day School

Pinwheels for Peace Program

Canton Country Day School observed the International Day of Peace with a Pinwheels for Peace Program on Tuesday, September 19th at 9:30 a.m.   Many families attended.  A week before, students participated in their first “Buddy Day” activity of the school year creating colorful pinwheels with words of peace.  Every student designed a pinwheel, as well as help their younger buddies create a pinwheel.   Students wrote their thoughts about peace, tolerance and living in harmony with one another on their pinwheels.

CCDS celebrated the International Day of Peace or Pinwheels for Peace in an assembly. Mrs. Jamie Murphy, third grade teacher and veteran, spoke on how the U.S. is Spreading Peace. Mrs. Heather Cooper, music teacher, led the CCDS Cougar Choir and students in peaceful songs.  A video of “What Peace Means to Me” was shown.  The celebration ended with everyone gathering outside on our front lawn, so the wind could whirl our colorful pinwheels with peaceful words throughout the community!  Can’t you feel the peace?  Enjoy the video of our students.

The Pinwheels for Peace project started in 2005 by Ann Ayers and Ellen McMillan, art teachers in Florida.   The original International Day of Peace, is  Sept. 21st, however CCDS will be closed on this day in observance of Rosh Hashanah.
